AMAZING PLACE FOR SHOOTING - FINLAND - Land of a thousand lakes & islands

ABOUT MY TRAVELS AND NOT ONLY

Today I would like to start a series, one could say travels, but also related to photography. I want to talk about interesting places that are not only worth to visit, but also can be a great idea to organize your wedding or elopement or just go there for an outdoor wedding session. These will be unusual places, maybe not the most popular, but certainly very beautiful. Today a few words about a country that totally captivated me and was a huge positive surprise - Finland. But let's start from the beginning ...

FINLAND - THIS COUNTRY CAN GET YOUR HEART

In 2018 I went on my dream trip around Scandinavia. The journey began with passing through Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia to Tallinn and then ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki. And from there began this unforgettable adventure - discovering eastern Finland, then Lapland, getting to Nordkapp, norwegian Tromsø and Lofoten, and a return journey through the norwegian fjords, Sweden and back to Poland. As a mountain lover I sensed that Lofoten and norwegian fjords - the combination of mountains and the sea - would make a huge impression on me, but I didn't know what to expect from Finland's landscapes and climate. Although I read a lot about it before, everything I was able to visit and discover there exceeded my wildest expectations.

LAND OF LAKES & ISLANDS

In the north-east direction from Helsinki begins the beautiful Finland Lakes Land and Karelia a little further. For many people the Finland Lakes Land is the essence of Finland. Some of you may think that lakes are everywhere, in every country, but there you get the impression that there is nothing else besides them. There are more lakes and forests there than in any other european country. The lakes stretch to the horizon, with countless, wooded, small and large islets. Somewhere between them lots of lovely towns where peace and quiet are incessant.

SLOW LIFE IN SCANDINAVIAN STYLE

In Finland people are not in a hurry at all. There are no traffic jams on the streets, no rubbish, no ads and banners spoiling the landscape, no massive fences around the property and no window bars. Supermarkets are located among trees and forests. Modest, scandinavian buildings perfectly fit into the surroundings and the landscape. Life goes on differently, calmer. I thought that not without reasons the Finns are among the happiest people in the world.

FINLAND LAKES LAND & KARELIA - UNIQUE PLACE FOR PICTURES

Finland is the least populated country in Europe. You can drive a car for several hours and not pass any buildings, cars or people. The views around make you stopping the car every few moments to enjoy surroundings and soak up the silence. In my head the frames were born all the time. In fact, several dozen kilometers from Helsinki in the north-east direction, almost every step you could find interesting places for photos and the farther you go the more wild, peaceful and beautiful places you can find.

I discovered plenty of places for shooting there, from the wonderful town of Porvoo, not far from Helsinki, through the picturesque castle in Savolinna, the national parks of Linnansaari, Kolovesi, Koli, to the Hossa National Park, located near the Lapland border.

YOU SHOULD MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE

I truly hope that maybe among you there are also lovers of Finland and scandinavian climates. If any of you dream of a session or wedding there, write to me. I will gladly go there with you, show these places, help plan a session and get where you need it. Or maybe you were in Finland and have your places there that you would like to come back to? I would love to hear about them and visit them with pleasure.

Maybe some of you will think that it would be crazy to go there for a session .... But on the other side why not? If others go to more distant places - Iceland, the Canary Islands or the Seychelles - why not go to Finland? ;) This is certainly not the last entry from a Scandinavian trip. There are lots of places worth attention. I will also write about Lapland and norwegian regions, so feel free to follow my blog! :)
